What began as a structured cabling company serving the Washington, D.C. metro area has grown into a trusted leader in network infrastructure, security integration, and AV technology across data centers, education, government, commercial, MDU and, healthcare markets. Netcom Technologies was incorporated on March 24, 1988, in Rockville, Maryland, with a clear mission: to provide high-quality, reliable cable plant infrastructure services to clients across the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region.
From the very beginning, the focus on precision craftsmanship and customer service attracted respected organizations such as Fannie Mae and Marriott International — establishing the foundation for a company built on trust and performance.
As the demand for advanced communication systems grew, Netcom relocated to Gaithersburg, Maryland, positioning the company for continued growth.
By 1993, annual revenues surpassed $5 million, fueled by long-term relationships with major clients including Fannie Mae, Montgomery County Public Schools, and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. Netcom became a trusted regional partner for structured cabling and infrastructure solutions across both public and private sectors.
Entering the new millennium, Netcom remained headquartered in Gaithersburg and surpassed $10 million in annual revenue.
This era marked a strategic expansion into Outside Plant (OSP) infrastructure, enabling the company to deliver end-to-end connectivity solutions from underground pathways to enterprise networks. Key clients during this period included Fairfax County Public Schools, Verizon, Cable & Wireless, and The Navy Yard, further cementing Netcom’s reputation for quality and technical excellence.
In 2008, Netcom returned to its roots in Rockville, Maryland, and exceeded $15 million in revenue. This year marked the launch of the Security Division, offering video surveillance and access control system design, installation, and service.
Netcom also earned a GSA Schedule 70 Contract, opening the door to expanded federal opportunities. That same year, Netcom was awarded the first of now four consecutive five-year Cable Plant Infrastructure Services contracts with The MITRE Corporation — a partnership that remains active through Q4 2025.
Still based in Rockville, Netcom achieved a DoD, high level facility clearance, a milestone that allowed support to the most sensitive federal environments.
Netcom was awarded a 10-year GSA Connections II Contract and began long-term partnerships with key agencies, including the Executive Office of U.S. Attorneys (EOUSA), for which Netcom has now held three consecutive five-year cable infrastructure contracts. Around the same time, the first of four ongoing four-year Cable Plant Infrastructure Services contracts with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) was secured — all of which continue as of Q4 2025.
In 2020, Netcom relocated to Clarksburg, Maryland, marking a new chapter of strategic diversification. The Security Division surpassed $5 million in annual revenue, underscoring Netcom’s leadership in access control and surveillance integration.
This year also saw the creation of the dedicated Audio-Visual (AV) Business Unit, expanding the company’s ability to deliver comprehensive low-voltage solutions — from structured cabling and security to workplace collaboration technology.
Today, Netcom remains headquartered in Clarksburg, Maryland, with the Security Division eclipsing $10 million in annual revenue with overall corporate revenue approaching $20 million. Netcom continues to grow the company footprint in the Northern Virginia Data Center Market. This highlights the company’s combined strength in structured cabling, security integration, and critical infrastructure deployment.
