MWAA Network Modernization 8 at Dulles International Airport
Expansion of Fiber Backbone & Critical Network Infrastructure
Netcom Technologies completed the MWAA Network Modernization 8 Project at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) in 2025, reinforcing the airport’s mission-critical network environment with high-performance fiber and copper infrastructure. This project was valued at $147,000 and is part of MWAA’s multi-year initiative to modernize airport network systems across both DCA and IAD.
Project Deliverables
As part of the modernization effort, Netcom installed:
ISP and OSP Maxcell Innerduct supporting 6 to 24 strands of single-mode fiber, fully fusion spliced with LC connectors.
• 168 fiber strands installed
• 14,000 feet of fiber deployed1″ EMT conduit to house Category 6 cabling to each assigned endpoint.
Horizontal cabling infrastructure including:
• 63 Category 6 cables
• Forty-eight 48-port patch panels
• Vertical & horizontal cable managementPower distribution upgrades across 17 telecom rooms (TRs).
Installation of 14 new UPS systems to support network uptime and system resiliency.
