MITRE Bedford 2M – Phase 0
Secure Fiber Modernization Across 12,000 Sq. Ft.
Netcom completed a full cabling modernization for MITRE’s Bedford 2M Phase 0 project, covering 12,000 sq. ft. of classified workspace. The project required total removal of legacy cabling and installation of a new, security-compliant structured cabling system designed for modern classified and unclassified operations..
Project Scope
Key components included:
Installation of 320 OM4 multimode fiber cables to desktop locations (classified and unclassified)
Surface raceway installation for secure routing within classified areas
LC splice-terminated fibers for enhanced performance
Termination in telecom rooms using high-density fiber enclosures
Installation of 23 Cat6A cables supporting wireless access points
Security cabling for 88 security devices including cameras, card readers, and sensors
Backbone infrastructure included 12- and 24-strand OM4 multimode fiber and 12-strand single-mode fiber between telecom and server rooms. Each telecom room was built out with:
19” racks with 6” vertical managers
45RU locking equipment cabinets with badge access
This project exemplified Netcom’s ability to deliver high-density, security-focused infrastructure in tightly controlled federal environments.
